Year 11 Camp
Our Year 11 students are on a three-day camp to Melbourne, staying at City CYC on Collins Street.
The program offers students a balance of educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities. Activities planned include: Melbourne Holocaust Museum, St Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre, The Shrine of Remembrance, RMIT Campus Tour, city scavenger hunt, various recreational activities.
Students will also have opportunities for structured free time in designated areas and will take part in a scavenger hunt designed to encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and exploration of Melbourne’s cityscape. To support this, each student will be provided with a Myki card preloaded with enough credit for the duration of the camp. This allows them to experience Melbourne’s public transport system while building confidence in using navigation tools such as the PTV and Maps apps.
At St Mary MacKillop College, we see camps as an important extension of learning beyond the classroom. They provide opportunities for students to live in shared accommodation, develop independence, strengthen social connections, challenge themselves, and embrace the benefits of an active lifestyle.
