Our Year 11 students participate in a three-day camp to Melbourne, where they stay at City CYC on Collins Street.

The program offers a balance of educational, cultural, and recreational experiences. Highlights included:

  • Melbourne Holocaust Museum

  • St Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre

  • The Shrine of Remembrance

  • RMIT Campus Tour

  • City Scavenger Hunt

  • Various recreational activities

Students also enjoy structured free time in designated areas and participate in a city scavenger hunt that encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and exploration of Melbourne’s landmarks. To support this, each student is provided with a Myki card preloaded with enough credit for the duration of the camp, giving them the chance to navigate Melbourne’s public transport system and become more confident in using navigation tools such as the PTV and Maps apps.

At St Mary MacKillop College, we value camps as an extension of learning beyond the classroom. This camp gives students the opportunity to live in shared accommodation, develop independence, strengthen social connections, embrace challenges, and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.
