Year 12 VCAL Camp

On 28th February the Year 12 VCAL students went to Melbourne for
their immersion camp which focused on homelessness and on careers.
Students were given the opportunity to see first-hand the work done by
the Salvation Army in helping with the issue of homelessness. The
presenter provided an overview of the impacts of homelessness, and
students were given a tour of city locations where homelessness is
ever present. Unfortunately, we were unable to help with volunteering
due to risk assessment issues presented by all organisations.

Students were given the opportunity to visit Melbourne Polytechnic campuses to investigate opportunities for further study. These campuses in Preston and Heidelberg cater for an amazing array of trades and courses. Students were also given the opportunity to investigate numerous career opportunities that exist at Etihad Stadium. A tour took place and students were given an opportunity to enter places that very few people ever get to go.

There was also time for fun, as students were treated to an amazing variety of food and music at the Queen Victoria night market on Wednesday and went ice skating on Thursday night. Thanks must go to Mr Haley for organizing the trip and to Ms Gillingham and Ms Rovere for coming along with the students
